We're very excited to announce the 9th Annual RALLYING AGAINST CANCER HARDCORE (RACH) 3-Pitch Tournament is scheduled for June 22 to June 24, 2012.  In memory of our daughter Rachel, the RACH Fund was formed to support the brain tumour research of Dr. Jonathan Irish, Chief of the Department of Surgical Oncology at the University Health Network (UHN), which includes Princess Margaret Hospital.  In November 2003, during her 2nd year of optometry school, Rachel was diagnosed with an olfactory neuroblastoma.  The tumour had spread through her sinuses and into the frontal areas of her brain. Rachel fought with courage, tenacity and grace as she underwent three surgeries, two rounds of radiation and seven rounds of chemotherapy.  In August 2005, Rachel Anne Cecilia Higgins was promoted to angel status.

The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (PMHF) has endorsed the RACH Fund in our fundraising efforts.  Since 2004 when Rachel first began this tournament, we have raised over $462,000.00 for cancer research.  All monies raised through the RACH Fund goes towards the ongoing research into Image-guided therapeutics, or GTx of Dr. Jonathon Irish.  A new operating room dedicated to the development and implementation of these new technologies will be completed by April at Toronto General Hospital.  The technologies include robotics and image guidance through endoscopic tracking allowing surgery to be exact and precise.  The RACH Fund has also supported fellows and engineers as they develop this technology both in the lab and elsewhere gaining more experience in head and neck robotic surgery.  Dr. Jonathan Irish has commented that “image guided surgery will save lives.   Patients will benefit from faster recovery times and enhanced quality of life during and after treatment.  Image guided therapeutics is the future in the fight against cancer.”

We are thankful for the generosity you have extended to us in the past and invite you to join our efforts once again.  Our goall this year is to raise $60,000 for The RACH Fund.  A cash, or online donation, or a donation of an item to be used in our silent auction, allows us to continue our quest to make a difference.

Thank you for taking the time to review our request.  For further information please visit our website at www.rachfund.com.  For mailing purposes, please use the following address:  7 Demick Dr., McDougall, ON  P2A 2W9.
